. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Robin Nance Metz assumed she would follow her family’s path and become involved in the graphic design end of book publishing. Educated at the University of Montevallo and Auburn University, Robin studied all phases of art, both fine and commercial arts, which she felt would help her in her pursuit of a career in graphic design and illustration.

After many years in a career including book design and illustration she ventured away from graphic design and embraced illustration full time. Licensing her images for calendars, t-shirts, over 50 greeting cards, and various other products. The years in this field included a nomination for the 1994 LOUIE Award (International Greeting Card Awards Competition)

Small paintings for friends and family were always part of her work and 17 years ago Robin began painting for galleries and private commissions. Starting last year she and husband, Ted Metz, started working together on ceramics with Robin utilizing her love of drawing onto Ted’s wheel-thrown platters, vases and bowls.  In recent months she has hand built objects harkening back to her paintings.
