Learning and Instruction at the Center
On July 14-17, 2008 The Cultural Arts Studio hosted a teacher workshop for third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers from throughout the Pike County schools. The workshop was led by master teachers, discipline specialists and experts in the field, teachers participated in experiential hands-on learning activities.Teachers left with a basic understanding of the elements of art, ways to teach art standards and ways to integrate the arts across the curriculum, and resources for the classrooms. This three and one half day workshop session focused on the works of Lamar Dodd and the Styles and Techniques Exhibits on display at the Cultural Art Center. In addition to lessons built around the exhibits, teachers worked in small grade-level groups and began designing their own arts infused lessons.
